When it comes to driving traffic to a website, most forget the benefits of forum posting. After all, what good can come from posting ideas and statements on a forum? How can this possibly drive SEO? Well, there are a couple of ways that good forum posting can help improve your search engine ranking and drive traffic to your site. In fact, it’s likely one of the most important ways to make advances with your potential new readers. These forums are visited by thousands of interested visitors daily. Since content is key, the information provided from forum posts is essential in establishing a solid online presence and developing a solid following. So, what are the ways that a good forum post can drive traffic?

Backlinks are key!

This might come as a surprise to some, but search engines index forums quite often. It is these forum posts that become a key driver to a website and blog getting good backlinks. However, not just any forum will do. The forum itself must be highly visible and a popular destination for interested readers. It must be specific in terms of its appeal and demographics. In addition, the quality of the forum post, and the blog or website’s content, must be good enough to secure a link from another site or blog. Search engines love backlinks because they confirm the information is coming from a reputable website or blog. More backlinks, means a higher search engine ranking and the more likely other blogs and websites will naturally start to link to the source of the content. In essence, it begins to build upon itself.

While backlinks are certainly a plus, there’s another benefit of posting on forums. People have a natural interest in getting to know others and gathering information and improving their online network. Forum posting is an opportunity for bloggers and website owners to be perceived as experts in their fields. It helps to establish contact with other content providers, and also puts a more personal touch on establishing contact with potential visitors. However, be careful! There’s a fine line between providing information and self promotion. Users must be aware that they should only provide links where the information is relevant. Going out and promoting a website non-stop, is a certain recipe for disaster. Many forum moderators and other forum regulars don’t like it.  Reserver your advertisements in sections that are designated in the forums.

Fresh content and an abundance of keywords

The benefits of forum posting are not only for the forum posters.  The forum itself will get a big boost in terms of fresh content daily.  Any forum post is also abundant in keywords.  This can rapidly improve a websites search engine ranking in no time.  It will also improve your visitors’ name recall of the website.  This is one of the reasons why many website owners put up forums, so people can meet and discuss things where they share a common interest.

You can leave a response, or trackback from your own site.

Finally, I found the information I was looking for. I have been doing research on this subject, and for three days I keep entering websites that are supposed to have what I’m looking for, only to be disappointed with the lack of what I needed. I wish I would have found your website sooner! I had about 25% of what I was looking for and your site has that, and the rest of what I need to complete my research. Thank you and keep up the good work!
