By now everyone should be familiar enough how Google changes its logo on their main search page if there is a special holiday or event. All of Google’s logo artwork, which they call the “doodle”, have all been very nicely designed so far. These doodles have a simple yet striking effect that captures the eyes. Plus it is always unique, I don’t recall seeing one being repeated over the years. And for this, a lot of people have gone to saving these doodles as a personal collection.

So what is it that Google has for its doodle lately?

The question is something that we encounter quite often whether it be in reading articles or writing one.  Every day we take the bus to the office or drive the kids to school, and then it occurs to you, “… so am I on the bus or in the bus? Am I on the car or in the car?”

When to use “in” or “on” might not matter to most of us, but knowing how to use it in a sentence is a plus.

So is it farther or further?  If you’re confused over which word to use then you’re not alone.  Just the one-letter difference between the two words definitely adds to the confusion.  Plus both words refer to distance in some sort of way.

Experts say that the word ‘farther’ is used when you are referring to physical or actual distance.  Farther also has the word ‘far’ in it which obviously is being used to refer to physical distance.

e.g., This bus stop is farther from my house than yours.

The word  ‘further’ on the other hand should be used when referring to abstract or figurative distances.

It is not widely known that the strikingly popular social networking site, Twitter, can play a vital role in search engine optimization (SEO). The truth is that Twitter can act as a great SEO tool when trying to promote one’s business.

To take advantage of Twitter’s SEO value, one should make sure that they’re using Twitter to its full potential. First, realize that the “Bio” section of your profile is going to be used by search engines as a meta description. If you want to look professional to searchers, place something professional in your “Bio” section. One should also be aware of how their Twitter handle and account name are being viewed by others. Here are a few simple tips for effective writing that you can easily follow:

• Good writing is something that is easy to understand.  Create clear and simple sentences as much as possible.  Keep your descriptions short and direct to the point.
• Avoid using words that are not so common to the reader.  Don’t use fancy terms that the reader might find difficult to understand.  Only use uncommon words whenever necessary.
• Use standard words.  Don’t use abbreviations, slang or jargon unless you are sure that the reader will understand and only when really necessary.

Well it has been a while since we last updated this blog.  It is not that nothing has been happening.  In fact it is the opposite of that!

Last year, Write Effects started late in October but it ended the year quite well.  What with several projects made and customers satisfied.  This year, 2010 was greeted immediately with a bang.  The new year started with us fresh from the last Holiday Season, energized from the long vacation and no time was wasted as we tackled orders from old and new clients also coming back from their holiday break.

For anyone who attempted blogging in 2009 and did not produce the results they wanted then this article is for you, as I will reveal strategies learned in the last few months that have greatly improved my own online blogging success.

One of the most important things to do to make your blogging efforts more profitable is getting your site noticed and ranked higher.

In addition, to be more effective, develop a game plan for your blogging efforts. While most people write at their convenience, it is better if you have a schedule that gets you posting daily if possible or at least once a week.

One of the problems that many people encounter with their blog is the lack of people reading it.  Many bloggers often complain how they spend countless hours writing their stories only to find out that no one is “listening” to what they say.  It is important to remember that it takes time to develop an interest to your readers.  You could be missing out on critical aspects of promotions which could help drive traffic to your blog.
