Effective Google Search Tips

Exact Phrase
Enclose the phrase with double quotes so that Google will search for the exact matches of the phrase instead of treating it as 2 separate words.  You may also use the ‘+’ sign to join the words and let Google know you want an exact match.

Page Cache
You can see Google’s cached version of a website or page by using ‘cache’ before the URL. Separate with a colon.

Site Links
If you want to know what pages Google has indexed on a specific site just use the ’site’ modifier before the URL. Separate with a colon.

Pac-man Doodle On Google

By now everyone should be familiar enough how Google changes its logo on their main search page if there is a special holiday or event. All of Google’s logo artwork, which they call the “doodle”, have all been very nicely designed so far. These doodles have a simple yet striking effect that captures the eyes. Plus it is always unique, I don’t recall seeing one being repeated over the years. And for this, a lot of people have gone to saving these doodles as a personal collection.

Over 32,000 Blog comments, Forum posts, Articles written and counting…

Well it has been a while since we last updated this blog.  It is not that nothing has been happening.  In fact it is the opposite of that!

Last year, Write Effects started late in October but it ended the year quite well.  What with several projects made and customers satisfied.  This year, 2010 was greeted immediately with a bang.  The new year started with us fresh from the last Holiday Season, energized from the long vacation and no time was wasted as we tackled orders from old and new clients also coming back from their holiday break.

350 Species Threatened by Global Warming

Write Effects is taking its stand against Global Warming.  It is not only the animals and plants that are directly threatened by greenhouse gas emissions.  Humans are at a greater risk too.  Please help spread the word.

Atmospheric carbon dioxide currently stands at about 387 parts per million. Scientists, including the head of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change and Jim Hansen, formerly of NASA, have called on world leaders to reduce that level to 350 parts per million. Doing so will require the United States to cut its greenhouse gas emissions to 40 percent or more below 1990 levels by 2020.
